About Us
Bowe’s Buddies was founded on one simple belief: every animal deserves a second chance. And no one embodies that more than Bowe himself. Bowe’s story began in July 2020, when his mother—young, sick, and heavily pregnant—was brought into a local shelter. She gave birth to seven kittens in the safety of the shelter, but like many facilities overwhelmed by intake numbers, there were no foster homes available right away. By the time a foster spot opened, only two kittens were still waiting: Bowe and his sister Peach. Peach was healthy, happy, and quickly adopted. But Bowe had a different path ahead of him. He was born with Radial Hypoplasia, a congenital condition that caused underdevelopment of the bones in his front legs. His physical difference meant he needed someone with experience, patience, and the kind of love that sees beyond limitations.
What started as a foster placement turned into a forever home. And Bowe didn’t just find safety and care—he inspired the entire mission of Bowe’s Buddies. Today, Bowe’s Buddies is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting animals just like Bowe: those who need extra care, time, and compassion to thrive. We partner with the Allen Animal Shelter to recruit, train, and support foster volunteers who provide temporary homes for cats and dogs in need.
Why Foster?
SAVE A LIFE
When you foster, you give a pet a safe, loving space outside the shelter. This reduces stress, supports healing, and literally makes room for another animal in need.
FIND LOVE
Fostering is an act of pure love. Whether it’s cuddles, playtime, or quiet moments, you’re showing an animal what it means to be cared for—and that love changes everything.
FIND FAMILY
Fosters play a key role in preparing pets for adoption. You help them build confidence, learn routines, and show potential adopters just how special they really are.

WHO WE FOSTER

Bottle babies
& nursing litters
Newborn kittens and puppies without mothers require round-the-clock feeding, warmth, and care. We place them in foster homes to give them the best chance at survival.

Puppies & kittens too young for adoption
Young animals need time to grow, build immunity, and learn basic behaviors before they’re ready for forever homes. Fostering gives them the safe start they need to thrive.

Animals recovering from illness or surgery
Some pets need time to heal in a calm, stress-free environment. Fostering gives them the space, rest, and care they need to recover fully before adoption.

Dogs & cats who are shut down in the shelter
Some animals become withdrawn or overwhelmed in the shelter environment. Fostering helps them regain trust, feel safe, and show their true personalities in a home setting.
